Antique Scottish Marine Barometer Sympiesometer
SKU:tws7810Antique Scottish marine barometer with sympiesometer circa 1900. The sympiesometer is a companion instrument for the marine barometer due to its lesser susceptibility to the pitch and yaw of a ship, however the taking of readings can take a little longer than for a traditional barometer due to the need to calibrate the scale for temperature. This instrument is EXTREMELY RARE in that it combines both barometer and sympiesometer and thus has the advantage of both as well as allowing the accuracy of each to be cross referenced.
Rosewood case with brass 12" brass gimbal. Dual ivorine registers with 10 A.M. Yesterday and 10 A.M. Today scales. Improved sympiesometer, thermometer, and recording wheel on silvered brass plates. Excellent working and overall condition. Measures 36" tall.
Local pickup preferred otherwise with ship with mercury removed.
